
Roy Hodgson is set to return to Crystal Palace’s training ground on Saturday after falling ill
Crystal Palace have announced that manager Roy Hodgson will return to coaching this weekend after missing the 3-1 loss to Aston Villa due to illness.
Hodgson felt unwell on Saturday morning and as a result was unable to travel to Villa Park, where his side took the lead against Odsonne Edouard before conceding three times late on, twice in extra time.
Palace said the 76-year-old former England manager oversaw the club’s training session on Tuesday and is now expected to be at Selhurst Park on Saturday when the Eagles take on Fulham.
“We are delighted to confirm that Roy Hodgson led Crystal Palace’s training session today,” a brief statement on the club’s website said on Tuesday.
“The manager was absent from Saturday’s match at Villa Park but will return to the training ground for Saturday’s match against Fulham at Selhurst Park.”
Palace did not say how bad their manager was ahead of the Villa game but confirmed he was in contact with first-team coach Paddy McCarthy and Ray Lewington throughout the encounter. FIND OUT MORE

The south London club posted a video on social media showing the players’ reactions and Hughes’ unique reaction was certainly the best of the bunch.

There is no doubt he has had some “great” moments and it will be interesting to see how he performs during the Premier League season.
The video posted on social networking site X shows Hughes receiving a silver card with an index of 74 in a new football match. His speed is only 48.
After seeing his own card, Hughes gave a brilliant and somewhat sarcastic answer, telling the host:
“Oh no, what am I going to do?”
The humorous response certainly fits the personality of the player who looks like an old-fashioned central midfielder.
